How do I adjust the audio volume?

You should use your device's Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons to achieve this.

On the Settings popup (as well as on the Pause menu during a game) you have the option to enable or disable both the music and the sound effects, but the actual volume is managed by your device.
